Our Story

Engineering-led, workshop-built.

Sail Wayak grew out of one engineer's workshop into a dedicated composite manufacturing operation — built on the same standards that shaped its founder's career.

From Workshop To Workshop

How we got here

Small beginnings, steady reinvestment, and a move that put us closer to the people we build for.

// 01

Foundation

Sail Wayak started small, in a Centurion workshop, with the basics needed to lay up composite parts. Wynand Breytenbach brought a background in mechanical and electrical engineering, years spent on fault-finding and root-cause analysis, and pointed that experience at composites. Established in 2021.

Reinvestment

Early customers kept coming back, and demand outgrew the original setup fast. We reinvested in a large-format CNC router and better tooling, laying the groundwork for the precision routing and flat-sheet capability the business runs on today — the first real step from workshop hobby to production supplier.

Benoni & Beyond

In February 2023 we relocated to a larger workshop in Benoni — closer to our customers and material suppliers, with the floor space to run the operation properly. From here we've expanded into new industries and materials, while keeping the same engineering discipline and quality standards that started it all.

What We Do Today

One workshop, a wide range of industries

We supply cast composite products to the electrical industry, spare parts for RC and experimental aircraft, RC car components, and chemical-resistant parts for the mining sector — alongside sheeting and components for a growing list of other industries.

We're also working with water utilities companies to develop composite alternatives to traditional materials — more practical and cost-effective to install and maintain.

Coming from an engineering manufacturing background shapes how we work: quality control isn't a final check, it's built into every stage, from the material suppliers we choose to the finish that leaves our workshop.
